Theophilus String Trio is formed by musicians with different experiences from classical to traditional music. The name self of this string trio is an explicit hommage to the great W.A.Mozart whose name in complete form was: Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Amadeus Theophylus Mozart. The three performers (who have played toghether in various ensembles for 20 years) use to propose a personal selection of most important musics from XVIIIth until XXth century, with respect of the different philological praxis in relation to the different age of the musics performed.
The group did various concerts appreciated by the public and the press.
It is a trip around the musics and the writings of the main composers
who characterised two centuries of classical music: the XVIIIth and
the XIXth century. The Theophilus String Trio has performed various
concerts and it is specialised in the performance of early music according
to philological praxis using original early instruments or copies of
themselves.
The typical program of the trio is based on musics of the classical period
and of the so called “galant style”.
